Joel is a native of London, Ontario, who embarked on a journey that led him from his hometown all the way to the western provinces in pursuit of higher education. At MacEwan University, he attained a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting, which laid the foundation for his academic pursuits. Joel then commenced his legal studies at the University of Manitoba, before ultimately transferring to the University of Alberta, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2020.
Post-graduation, Joel commenced his articling period at a small firm in Edmonton, where he practiced in real estate, wills, and family law. Following his call to the bar in July 2021, Joel made the decision to relocate to Calgary, drawn by the desire to be closer to his family. He joined a small firm specializing in Family and Criminal law matters, where he further honed his legal expertise and developed a love for the courtroom. He gained valuable experience running trials and appearing before judges throughout the province.
Following his passion for litigation, Joel's journey eventually led him to personal injury law in July of 2022, when he worked for 2.5 years at one of Canada’s largest personal injury law firms. He has a keen focus on personal injury matters such as motor vehicle accidents, dog bites, and slip and fall incidents. Joel then joined Preszler in 2024 with a dedication to providing exceptional legal representation to his clients, who can expect a kind, compassionate lawyer, and a fierce advocate.
Beyond the courtroom, Joel is an active participant in his local theatre community, showcasing his talents on stage in various productions. His recent roles include "Giuseppe Palmieri" in the 2024 Morpheus Theatre production of "The Gondoliers" by Gilbert and Sullivan and "Carlo Nucci" in the 2023 Morpheus Theatre production of "A Comedy of Tenors" by Ken Ludwig. In his leisure time, Joel enjoys engaging in sports, playing games, cherishing moments with his partner and family, and caring for his plants and beloved cat.
